Manual - Yellow Oyster Mushroom cultivation kit
STEP 1
Remove the grow kit from the box.
STEP 2
Cut 1 or more crosses of approximately 4 by 4 cm in the plastic with a sharp knife or scissors. The mushrooms will grow from these crosses.
The position of the crosses does not matter much. The mycelium will notice where most of the oxygen comes from and mushrooms will automatically form there.
STEP 3
Do not place the block in direct sunlight and not too close to the heater. Oyster mushrooms grow best in an oxygen-rich environment with high humidity. The bathroom and utility room are generally the most suitable places in the house.
To increase the humidity in the immediate vicinity of the grow kit, you can place the block on a wet cloth.
The first cups will appear after 1 day to 2 weeks. Until then, keep the mycelium at the crosses moist. This can be done by spraying water onto the open areas with a plant sprayer.
If oyster mushrooms have not yet started to grow, you can place the growing kit in the refrigerator overnight to trigger the block to form mushrooms.
STEP 4
When the oyster mushrooms are no longer growing fast and just before the caps have fully opened, they can be harvested. The bundles can be pulled completely from the block.
STEP 5
To promote the next harvest, the open areas must be kept moist daily. This can be done with a plant sprayer. After about 1 to 2 weeks, new mushrooms will start to form.
The entire process can be repeated 1 to 3 (and maybe even 4) times. When the block is completely exhausted it can serve excellently as compost.
