Wooden plugs colonised with turkey tail mycelium (Trametes versicolor) for inoculating fresh hardwood logs.

Use a healthy oak, beech or birch log and drill holes of 8 to 10 mm; the supplied wax seals them. Turkey tail is not a kitchen mushroom: the fans are tough and are dried for tea. On a colonised log, new bands of brown, grey and green keep appearing for years.
